Obituaries
I am sorry to have to report the passing away of a number of caravanning friends
over the past few weeks.
Mr Jim Snook, A Past Chairman of the Centre, between 1969 and 1973. Died
on Sunday 3rd January 2010. His funeral will be held on Wednesday 13th January 2010
at Salisbury Crematorium.
Mr Ray Radford, Nominated member of the Caravan Club and a member of the
South West Region passed away on the 10th October 2009 whilst on holiday in New
York with Avis, his wife and their daughter. Ray was a lovely man who gave many
years to the Caravan Club, a hobby he enjoyed with his family.
Mrs Connie West, wife of Mr Bob West who was a past Secretary and Vice Chairman
of the Centre between 1978 and 1982. Peter Blake attended the funeral on Thursday
19th November on behalf of the Committee and a number of other Centre members also
attended.
John Batchelor passed away Monday 30th November. John had not been well for
a long time and was admitted to hospital a week or so before he passed away. John
and Sylvia were long term members of the Wiltshire Centre and had many friends.
John joined the Centre Committee in 1972 and a year later became Centre Chairman
serving 3 years until 1976 at which time he returned to Committee until 1982, then
took on the Hon Rally Secretary role from 1984 to 1993. The Secretary has sent a
card to his daughter Celia on behalf of the Centre expressing our condolences. His
funeral will take place at the Swindon Crematorium on Monday 21st December at 12.00
noon, and after at The Dockle Farm House pub.
Professor Cedric Milner one of the three Caravan Club Vice Chairmen (elected
at the 2007 AMM), passed away on Thursday 3rd December 2009. As well as his involvement
with the Caravan Club, Professor Milner was an ecologist and retired professor of
the School of Biological Sciences, University of Wales Bangor. He was also the Chairman
of the Snowdonia Society, a member of the Council for National Parks, and a former
Home Office Scientific Advisor.

best wishes to his wife Quita Withers on her loss. John and Quita were long term
members of the Centre with many friends.
